Are people really living their dream life or is it an illusive fantasy world? Let’s take a closer look at the laptop lifestyle, what it actually means and how people are living their life to the fullest by combining technology and creativity with work-life choices.

Definition of a laptop lifestyle

People across the globe are creating legitimate tax paying businesses that are operated completely online by leveraging the ability to work remotely on the internet, from our laptop or other devices such as our phones. Ultimately, these digital entrepreneurs have the freedom to earn an income with no ties to a geographical or physical location thus giving them more lifestyle choices.

There’s nothing mystic or magic about it. People have been working remotely for years. Think about the release of the Blackberry in 2002, that enabled us to fax (remember those) and gave us access to our emails outside of the office.

Why I Chose To Work For Myself As A Digital Entrepreneur

If you've read my story you will know why I made an alternate income choice and now live a laptop lifestyle.

The longer I was employed, the more I knew I was missing out on life and financial security. I was working so much that I didn’t have time to connect with people, take up new hobbies or explore my interests. Furthmore, even if I did have any free time, my job certainly didn’t have the capacity to afford me any extras in life, such as simple health care.

I looked into other avenues of making a passive income such as investing in the stock market but my money would be out of my control which makes it a gamble. I could either open an account with a brokerage firm (some of which won't accept an account application unless you deposit a large amount of money) or I could go it alone as an inexperienced investor.

The one thing I do know is like compound interest, the stock market is a long term, minimum 20 year investment.

My desire has been to make an exponential difference to my immediate income, with full control and confidence that my investment will payoff which is why I was drawn to the laptop lifestyle.

The 3 Benefits of a Laptop Lifestyle

Location Freedom

The idea is pretty basic. As I mentioned, by having an online business you can live and work wherever you choose to, creating location freedom which is how people are seen travelling to exotic, romantic places for weeks or even months at a time and still earn an income. They only rely on the internet and their laptop to plug into their business.

Time Freedom

There are two ways to create time freedom with a laptop lifestyle. Instead of having to commute to work, spend time at a job that best suits the company and juggle your life commitments after work hours, as your own boss operating your business online, you have the opportunity to choose your hours, integrating your business schedule and life commitments in a way that works best for you.

Secondly, when you start your online business, you will most likely have more time than money. As the return on your business grows, that balance will shift giving you more money than time so you will have the choice to buy back your time by delegating or outsourcing different tasks or chores.

Think about this for a moment. When you pay someone to clean your house for 2 hours, that’s 2 hours in you gain back. You have traded money for time. As your wealth grows you have the choice to delegate more tasks, freeing up more time to invest into other areas of your life.

If you are currently employed, you are the one who is trading all your time for a limited amount of money.

Financial Freedom

If you’re employed you’re only paid for the number of hours you work. Someone else decides what that time is worth. If you don’t go to work, you’re not paid. Simple.

On the other hand, if you leverage an online business successfully, you will do the work once, step away from the laptop and still be paid, repeatedly. This is a passive income you’re earning in the background as you live the rest of your life, only limited by your own creativity and tenacity.

Why Everyday People Who Aren’t Tech Savvy Are Choosing A New Career As An Online Business Owner

People can’t deny that a lack of fulfillment in their job is having a huge impact on the overall quality of their life.

Consider how much of your life is spent talking about work, getting ready for work, commuting to work, the 40 hours a week spent at work, from the age of 20 - 65 (with retirement age on the increase) with only two weeks holiday every year.

Research shows that 74% of Australians reported being stressed from work* so the likelihood is that it’s probably you. It used to be me.

One in five (21%) Australian employees report they have taken time off work due to feeling mentally unwell (stressed, anxious, depressed or mentally unhealthy) in the past 12 months. This statistic is more than twice as high (46%) among those who consider their workplace mentally unhealthy.*

Working a dead end job that doesn’t allow you to grow, contribute your creativity, innovation and originality or build financial independence will leave you feeling unfulfilled, discontent, stressed, susceptible to depression and vulnerable to continual financial hardship.

Thousands of employees are trading their dead end job in for a new career as online entrepreneurs, breathing purpose into their life, contributing to the world and bringing their dreams to fruition.

The Laptop Lifestyle: Is It For You?

If you feel trapped or unfulfilled in your job, know there’s something more to life, want to do something big and just didn’t know how to make it happen or how to get there then this is for you.

With the right attitude, anyone can transition into the Laptop Lifestyle. For most of us, me included, being an entrepreneur went against what we are taught from an early age; which is get a good education, get a good job and work until you retire at whatever age the government decides you’re allowed to have your retirement fund.

Fair enough that the technology we have today didn’t exist in the 80’s (shhh) but it does now and the school system hasn’t caught up to teach the opportunities.

The path as a digital entrepreneur is learn, build and grow on the go. Building a business online is not a get rich quick scheme, designed for instant gratification. It’s for those who are seeking new opportunities to explore themselves and their full potential.

Our 3 Step Laptop Freedom Formula

There is a huge difference between 10 hours in the office compared to 10 hours invested on a personal project. Time flies by!

When you can cut work down by 90% using a done for you platform, that thousands of people across the globe are replicating, you’re bound to create a positive shift in your life far sooner.

Entrepreneurs are capitalizing on digital technology to run their whole business, communicating with their customers, clients, staff and team without the need for a storefront, warehouse or an office.
